Smocking

I completed this outfit for my nephew Kaj for his first birthday - it is absolutely beautiful and an easy one to finish.

Ruffled Feathers - I love this dress - it has intricate embroidery on the sleeves and collar and the detailing is unusual as it uses counterchange smocking

Both of these pictures and patterns are courtesy of Australian Smocking & Embroidery - I will post pictures of my versions and the lovely children in them a bit later.

A Toast to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge

I couldn't have missed the opportunity to toast Prince William and his bride Catherine - congratulations and here's to your new life together.

Had a great day with friends and family - eating, drinking and socialising whilst watching the Best of British :)

Hope you all enjoyed your day. xx

Swaps

I took part in the Tilda Easter Swap run by Cat of catalinaz.blogspot.com.  I always enjoy doing swaps - I like to think I am creative and also generous - as those are who send to me - always.  However on this occasion I have been really let down by the lady I sent my parcel to - having had no blog acknowledgement of the swap so making it look like I didn't send anything so I am having to put this post on my blog to make up for it.  I sent a lovely Handmade Tilda rabbit in a purple dress with trousers and a matching hat along with some fancy teabags, chocolate and bits and pieces.  I really appreciate the hard work that Cat puts into doing the swaps and I received some lovely goodies from her - thank you Cat for all your hard work, patience, communication and loveliness - I look forward to hearing all about your wedding day antics on Skype.

Viking Mork Bergerson

This is the tunic that I have made for Kristian's Viking Re-enactment Group.

I have done the trousers for him a few months ago - he is now waiting to get the decoration or banding that goes around the neck and base of the tunic.

Handmade Baby Girl Concertina Album

A friend of mine has recently become a grandmother for the first time and I couldn't resist making her something a little bit special instead of a card.
A concertina album with 16 pages to add photographs to.

I used Basic Grey Two Scoops and Bazzill cardstock

View from the top showing the pockets for the eight pull out pages for photographs and journalling

Cuttlebug embossing folders, prima flowers, KI Memories glitter buttons and epoxy label, embroidery floss and a silver flower along with AMM Baby Girl Vellum stickers

K & Co photo corners

Spellbinders Nestabilities, SU brads, AMM metal accents, Craftwork Cards Confetti

K & Co Epoxy labels and photo corners along with Basic Grey rub-ons and Bazzill adhesive gemstones

AMM Baby Girl Guitar Picks and Stampin' Up ribbon

All inked on the edges with Cat's Eye chalk inks in pink and green

Stampin' Up ribbon, K & Co photo corners and AMM heart ribbon charm

Prima flowers along with KI Memories metal accents and Basic Grey stickers

The back of the album says it all I think :)

This is the eight cardstock inserts for the pockets which are decorated with ribbon, Tim Holtz tiny attacher and Basic Grey white rub-ons and Two Scoops rub-ons.  They also have matching cardstock on the back of them and can hold two photographs or one photograph on one side and journalling on the other.

I took the present today and the lady was absolutely delighted with it and couldn't wait to show it off. :) xxx

Catching up!!

I am getting there.  All my parcels have been posted as of last week.  (Had to wait for one last goodie for a gift for someone).  I have nearly finished the quilt for my Mum - a bit late but nearly there.  I taught the last class of my scrapbook club on Saturday and now handing the reins over to Judith so that I can get a bit more sorted out.  Joy took me quilting this morning and I made a start on my quilt for my new bedroom.  Furniture coming soon - nearly ready to be decorate so I thought I would make an effort to get the stuff done for the room.  I managed to make six cuts lol - it took me two hours!!!  But it's a start!!  We then went for lunch and checked out garra fish in a private beauty spa - fantastic - will be booking that soon.  Booked a quilting course for 1/2 day to learn tri-fold quilting to make a cushion on the day before the Royal Wedding.  Not sure what I am doing that day but think I will be watching it with the children. :)

Soooo ...

I am so far behind with lots of jobs and bits and pieces and even with my blogging.  Here's just a snippet of what's been happening...

James had a very good Academic Review Day at school and he even decided on some of his subjects to choose when he goes into Year 9 - good job James - well done.

Rachael has done her Art GCSE and is at study club three times a week now - Prom bake sales are on hold at the moment because they have so much revision to do.  They have been given an extra couple of days in school over the extended April holidays which is a great idea.

Kristian has made his choice for University and sent off for accommodation so we have loads of forms and whatever else to do for that.  He is waiting for me to finish (and start!!) his viking tunic.  Will get there eventually.

Borge is still working hard but having a couple of days off for my hospital appointments.  The RVI appointment went exceptionally well - met with Dr Quinton for the first time - he was fab - did loads of work - gave me some good news - 4lb off and 1/2" back on my height and apparently the first person in Cumbria to get the treatment I am on - exciting stuff for him - yukky for me!!!! lol

Took Mum out for lunch last weekend for her birthday - had a great day - didn't manage to finish the quilt I had started on but got the backing fabric and binding for it so hoping to get it done soon.  Got to start on the layouts for my last scrapclub as Bossy Person No.1 - then downgrading myself to Bossy Person No.2 with a friend taking over top dog position :) Thanks Jude - I think it will make a big difference - can't believe it has been 7 years since we started - I think we will have to do something special to celebrate.

Haven't baked in over 10 days - far too much to do in other places but I do have an order to fulfil in April for my cheeky extra son Callum who is 13 this month - haven't seen him a lot lately because the scouts have all been camping and James has been doing his rock climbing course - passed level 1 - now onto level 2 so not had a lot of time for friends and family.

Anyway I think this is a pretty good update and have now got to spend the weekend sorting out bits and pieces that are to do next week.  I am really pleased Borge is off as it means more help with stuff. :)
