Lizzie Kate catch up... Day 4

So after four evenings of hand stitching this is the result...

I am pleased with the work so far, a couple of mistakes but I decided to leave them in rather than unpick.  I have a bird and a house to do then it's onto part 3.

I ordered some fabric over the weekend to make a quilt with some matching bits and pieces and will share a pic once it arrives.  I hope to get this finished before I start the quilt but I want to start the quilt before I get told about my niece's baby, due very soon, nothing like leaving things until the last minute!

Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler...

As you can see I have been busy - just in the evenings though.

It just seems to take no effort to stitch this.  I hope I can get it completed in the next couple of days as I have another project I need to get started and completed pretty quickly.

I took one of my completed Sheherd's Bush charts in to get framed today and can't wait to see it back in two weeks.

We have an evening to ourselves tonight, so it's been fish and chips and no pots to wash!!

Have a good weekend all, Happy Stitching :)

Gluten Free Almond Biscuits

Ingredients:-

7oz Butter or Margarine (using Stork Block will make them Dairy Free too.)
3oz Golden Caster Sugar
4oz Ground Almonds
1 teaspoon Almond Extract
1 teaspoon Xantham Gum
9oz Juvela White Flour Mix

Melted chocolate in a small piping bag for decoration

Method:-

Set the oven to Gas Mark 4 or 180 C.

Cream the butter/margarine and almond extract.  Add the ground almonds, xantham gum and Juvela white flour mix.  Mix well and you will see it come together into a ball.  Get some cling film ready.  Roll the mixture into a tube and wrap in the clingfilm.  Place in the fridge for a good 40 minutes.  Get a large baking tray ready.  Using a sharp knife, cut the tube into slices around 5mm thick if you like a biscuit consistency or thicker if you like chunkier cookies.  You should get 30 biscuits at 5mm thickness.

Place the tray in the middle of the oven for 11 minutes until golden.

Take out of the oven and leave to cool on the tray.  Once cold, loosen the biscuits from the tray but leave on it while you decorate the biscuits with the piping chocolate.  For extra almond taste, sprinkle some chopped or sliced almonds on top of the chocolate.

Enjoy with a latte or hot chocolate.

Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler update...

I have been busy stitching in the evenings and have managed to get through half of part one of the mystery sampler.  Going to sit and do the flowers tonight.  I missed the Friday Night Sew In as we had family here for the weekend and didn't know what we were going to be doing.

It is my hubby's birthday on Monday and it has been really nice having family around at this time of year as we don't normally see them in January - you know what it's like - we all like to stay home, safe and warm through the horrid winter cold evenings.  We went out for a meal with his brothers and sisters (he is one of 8!!) and then today we saw Jumanji - it must have been good because hubby didn't fall asleep at all.

I had a nosy at what all my stitching buddies were getting up to and if you get a chance have a look through all the blogs listed down the side of my blog for lots of inspiration.

Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler Part One

I got a little more stitching done today, between laundry and packing.

I think it won't take that long as the stitches are 2 over 2 with two threads and easy to work, that easy I had to unpict twice lol, I really should be more careful and concentrate haha.

I hope to post again tomorrow with an update :)

Happy stitching and all the best for 2018 :)

FNSI - I made it...

Friday Night Stitch In...

I made it...

I decided to start on my Lizzie Kate Things Unseen Mystery Sampler.

My fabric all mounted and marked and the first stitches done in Guacamole thread from Weeks Dye Works.

There are beautiful thread colours in this kit, they work together really well.  I have hidden the finished picture as it does actually request it on the instructions as other people may have not looked at part 3.  I am going to carry on stitching tonight and take it with me when we take our youngest back to University.  We are having a few days away for relaxation.

There are quite a few of us stitching from Friday so make sure you check out what everybody has been doing.

I am really struggling at the moment with anxiety.  I think it comes from everything we went through last year.  Everytime something goes wrong I just imagine the worst so I am not great company at the moment - pretty much a grouch all the time.  I have a good friend that is more or less the same which means we get to moan together lol.  We are not sure how to get out of it.  When I stitched last night I was watching a film and I think I just about broke the needle with stress as I got so involved in the dialogue.  I need my music sorted asap.
