Royal School of Needlework Crewelwork Certificate Sneek Peek

I started over a year ago and it's been a long time in the stitching but finally I am coming towards the completion of my RSN Crewelwork Certificate and thought I would share a few sneek peeks before it is put in for marking.

My original design which was then tweaked as there are a few elements that i wasn't happy with.

The pear stayed and was started with a triple trellis is varying shades of Appleton's green crewel wool.

The trunk has been stitched in a fine chain stitch again in different shades.  You can also see Bokharan Couching for the main flower along with seed stitch and satin stitch.

The long leaf has been stitched in Fishbone Stitch and the mounds surrounding the trunk have been stitched in Laid Stitch again in a variety of shades light to dark.

It has come along way since these photographs were taken and I look forward to sharing the finished design in December when it goes for marking.

It really has been a long road as I have had to work around mine and my family's health along with travelling over 200 miles each time to stitch at Durham.  I love stitching over there - Tracy is such a wonderful tutor, very patient and confidence giving and I am looking forward to starting a new project in January 2019 - I haven't decided yet what it will be.

If you are thinking about learning embroidery and would like to know more you can see Tracy's work on www.tracyafranklin.com

All images are copyright Elaine Mork and cannot be used without my permission.  You may share these photographs as long as you mention who they belong to.  I have had designs taken in the past and have had to put the above statement in.

Happy Halloween Stitching :)

Shepherd's Bush Sail Away and lots more...

We have been waiting for the delivery of this kit and it finally arrived a couple of weeks ago...

It is a kit that matches the Sailor's Collar kit that I completed and framed earlier in the year.

We have been really busy re-structuring our kitchen by extending it and now all we have to do is the painting.  We decided to use Farrow and Ball paint on my mum's recommendation.  Yes it is expensive but wow it is a dream to work with and is giving great results on the woodwork.

Today is the first day that we have cooked in the new bigger kitchen and it works really well.

Healthwise I have not been in a good place.  I have been on anti-biotics for an ear infection and can't have my flu jab until they are out of system so I am staying clear of anyone with a sniffle.  Waiting for an MRI scan to show what is causing the problems in my legs - losing sensation on the left side, constant pins and needles which drives me potty so they are thinking a trapped nerve somewhere will help resolve the problems.

I am back at the RSN next week to complete my crewel work.  My mum's operation got cancelled and re-scheduled to the end of October.  This is the reason I have not been very active on here and it will be a bit hit and miss over the next few months.  Happy stitching to all of you. :)
