Latest Quilt Design Sneek Peek

This is the second quilt that I have made out of Joel Dewberry's Summer Meadow fabric

In the centre I have made hourglass patches

It is surrounded by a green border and then there is a lot more fabric but this is only a sneek peek so I am afraid that is all I am saying for now.  I am quite excited about it though as I made the pattern out of my head and not an actual pattern, working out all the fabric requirements and binding, maths has not been my strong point for a while so it has been good to get the grey cells going again.

Scraps Galore

I have spent the last few days chopping up all my remnants of quilting fabric into 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 4.0 inch squares so that whenever I don't feel like cutting or need something ready quickly I have a jar with all these bits in and can get a quick start.  Also it takes up less room in my fabric box leaving room for lots more fat quarters :)  My intention is to collect them over the year and then do some scrappy quilts in different themes as there is such an assortment of fabric to choose from.

Look what I found - Gigi's Thimble

I was having a nose on the net, you know like you do, not interested in much but mooching about and look what I found.  Gigi's Thimble, the designs are absolutely gorgeous so I had to order and decided on the Square Root pattern for a gorgeous autumn colours quilt for one of my Lincolnshire nieces.  The colours will look amazing and instead of using white I am going to use orange.  On the applique I might do something a little difference and less time consuming but I will wait and see what I think when I get the pattern.  Go and have a look at the lady's website/blog and Etsy store, a good selection of patterns and cheap postage as well.

Time Out

The last couple of months has been quite a strain on my very minimal resources and I have realised that some things have taken a backward step.  I really need a break so my GP and support worker are looking for some respite care somewhere.  Hopefully this will be soon as my body seems to be on a complete meltdown and coming out with all kinds of new symptoms.  The family seem to have forgotten that things can be quite a strain which I think happens in lots of families where someone isnt well but doesn't have bandages or plasters to be seen.  Oh well never mind, I will try and get better and see what the future holds but at this moment in time it doesn't feel like a lot.  I will try and post a bit more regular.  At the moment I am just looking through books and wishing I could make lots of crafty things but the energy just isn't there anymore.  So with this in mind I have put a picture on of where I wish I was to where I actually am and wish all my crafty friends a wonderful 2012 and hope it holds lots of special things for you out there.
